Senator Lamar Smith is at it again – H.R. 1981

Senator Lamar Smith has introduced another bill that would require ISPs to tracking all of your IP information and search history for a period of 12 months.   The bill centers around financial transactions, so think credit card, bank statements, etc.

Unfortunately, the bill is being masqueraded as a “Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011.”  The ultimate shield – protect our children.

The bill implies that tracking of financial information via this statement:

“10 ‘‘§ 1960A. Financial facilitation of access to child por-
11 nography
12 ‘‘(a) IN GENERAL.—Whoever knowingly conducts, or
13 attempts or conspires to conduct, a financial transaction
14 (as defined in section 1956(c)) in or affecting interstate or
15 foreign commerce, knowing that such transaction will fa-
16 cilitate access to, or the possession of, child pornography
17 (as defined in section 2256) shall be fined under this title
18 or imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both”

Senator Lamar Smith needs to be removed from office as he is a danger to our liberties.  First SOPA, now this?   Texas should wake up and elect someone else.  I wonder if we could figure out a way to try him for treason, or knowingly attempting to subvert our constitution.   This man is truly evil, or at a minimum, ignorant.

Please contact your representatives to insist that this bill does not continue.
